AY’s ‘A Trip to Jamaica’ breaks ’30 Days in Atlanta’s Guinness World Record

AY set a Guinness World Record with his sophomore film production of ’30 Days in Atlanta’ as the highest grossing Nollywood film of all time at the box office, and in just over a year and half, he has broken the same record with his sophomore production.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the comedian wrote:

The movie has beaten the box office revenues of all the big budget Hollywood Titles released in 2016 here in Nigeria. These includes BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA, SUICIDE SQUAD, LONDON HAS FALLEN, GODS OF EGYPT, TRANSPORTER, DOCTOR STRANGE, TARZAN, MAGNIFICENT 7 and CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE.

Thanks to you all for going to the cinemas to see Nollywood movies.

According to the Executive Director of Filmone Distribution, Moses Babatope, the movie, which was directed by Robert O. Peters, has brought in about N168 million revenue at the box office.

He added that the movie set a new benchmark in Nollywood as the first film to hit N35 million in its first weekend and the first film to hit N62 million in its first week. He added that the movie was currently the fastest film to get N100m – 17 days, and the fastest film to N150m – 6 weeks.
